Part D is a Prescription Drug Plan that was created by the government for people who are eligible for Medicare. Part D was designed to provide a measure of protection for people who have very high drug costs. Medicare Part D plans are offered by private insurance carriers and cover both brand name and generic prescription drugs obtained at participating pharmacies.

There are two types of Medicare Part D coverage:

1. Stand-alone plans, also called Prescription Drug Plans that only offer prescription drug coverage
2. Medicare Advantage Plus Prescription Drug Plans like Easy Choice Health Plan, that offer both prescription drug coverage and medical coverage for doctor visits, hospital expenses and other medical expenses.

Each Part D plan has a formulary, which is a list of government-approved medications that the plan covers.

Medicare prescription drug coverage can offer you peace of mind in knowing that you are protected from the high cost of medications.

To get coverage you must choose a insurance plan and each plan is different and has different costs for coverage.  You can join a Medicare prescription drug plan or you can join a Medicare Advantage Plan.
